Restringing top-down bottom-up cellular shades can be an easy DIY job for the do-it-yourselfer. The first step is to lay the window shade out with the top rail facing away from you. The middle rail, also known as the floating rail, is situated between the bottom and top sections and is made up of an aluminum stiffener. Cord locks are connected to the cords at the top and bottom of the shade.

Cellular shades may also be called honeycomb or accordion shades. There are a variety of ways to fix them, including fixing damaged mounting brackets as well as refringing or replacing cord locks. These tips will help repair your cell shades. Here are a few steps to follow to restring top down , bottom up cellular shades: a) Remove the shade from the window. b) Take out any excess strings or tassels. c) Slide off the top rail.

c) Using a flathead screwdrive take off the bracket hidden. Repeat this procedure if needed. d) Pull softly and then roll the shade at a 45-degree angle. o The string is too loose. To remove the shade from the brackets, use a flathead screwdriver blade to loosen the string. Shades can be pulled from the brackets by pushing upwards on the tab at the back of the plastic brackets. If the shade isn't hanging properly then pull it back until the brackets are secure. If the shade has become stuck on the brackets, you need to untwist it.
